This hangdog
makes me happy!
Jim Lord's latest, "Hangdog Heaven" is an aptly
titled CD. Full of bittersweet reminisces, Jim's great
at sharing those bluesy moods. His voice is strong &
true throughout & conveys an easy sincerity, in those
sadly nostalgic moments & on his lovesongs & upbeat
numbers. Straddling the blurry line between folk-rock,
& honky tonk, Lord has a way of turning a simple phrase
to give it poetic depth, while still sounding like spoken
word. These thoughts are then wrapped around simple yet
compelling melodies. The album is beautifully produced
& played with an ear towards serving the tunes. The
stellar cast put in a tastefully understated performance
that just works! If you appreciate simple, sincere, &
substantial music, this album's for you.
A Top-Notch Musical Treat!
Buy this album and understand the beauty that
is the music of Jim Lord. From the first a cappella notes
of "Saddle River" to the final strains of "Wasn't
Really Thinkin'", this CD is meant to be listened
to, appreacited, and cherished. Play "You and Me"
for someone you love: it is a true and heartfelt love
song. Like James Taylor, Lord weaves musical magic with
every song. It will take up permanent residence in your
CD player, and rightly so.
What can I say?
This is one of the most sincere records I've
herd come from an artists in a long time. From the heart
is where any musician worth there salts will tell you
songs come from. Jim Lord's album is clearly his soul
beared for others to enjoy. And I believe that many shall.
Not only are the songs exelent (track five is my personal
fav...)but the crystal clarity of the recording itself
is a testament to the labor of love that is "Hangdog
Heaven". The bottom line is....If you ain't got it;
get it... If you got it....GOOD!

This is one of those rare CDs that I can listen
to again and again and enjoy more and more. Every track
on this CD is a winner. Great back-up artists, heart-felt
lyrics that have some intellect and sensitivity, and a
very talented singer/songwriter to pull it all together.
I play this CD like I played my old James Taylor, Tom
Rush, Dan Fogelberg, and Jackson Brown albums.....into
the ground. It's hard to find anyone that writes and performs
music like this anymore. Buy-it, borrow-it or steal-it,
but I just can't recommend it enough.
